Parkinson, auriculomedicine and the use of permanent needles

During the last symposium for auriculotherapy, which took place (in the period of the 9th to 10th October 2009), in Bologne, in Italy, we could assist to a presentation on the treatment of Parkinson’s disease using permanent needles in the lobe area of the auricle. The tiny implants made of titanium, are meant to stimulate because of the ear somotatopy certain brain areas, like the locus niger (which in case of Parkinson’s disease presents low dopamine secretion).
